Frontline officers will aid review of protest tactics
The Metropolitan Police Federation welcome the announcement of a review into the tactics used in policing major protests and demonstrations.
We will consult with our members and then ensure that Chief Inspector of Constabulary Denis O'Connor, who is conducting the review, is fully conversant with the suggestions and concerns of officers who are in the front line.
It is Met Federation policy not to comment on ongoing investigations into complaints against police such as those currently in progress following G20.
We are therefore making no further comment at present, other than to say that we will continue to support our members while the Independent Police Complaints Commission gathers and evaluates ALL the evidence.
